Iran Test Fires Rocket
02.03.10 |
(Tehran) -- Iran has carried out a successful test-fire of a satellite carrier rocket. State media report the test-fire occurred earlier today, and the rocket was carrying live animals -- two turtles, a mouse and worms. Iran's president called the launch a breakthrough and said he hoped Iran will send its own astronauts into space soon. Western nations have expressed worries that the same long-range ballistic technology used to put satellites into orbit could be used to launch warheads. Iran has denied plans to use it in that way.
