New York lawmakers kickstarted the 2012 legislative session Monday by signing off on a bill that bars any company that invests in Iran's energy industry from doing business with the state. The measure now heads to Governor Cuomo's desk. Also on Monday, pro-choice groups pushed for the Reproductive Health Act, a pro-choice abortion bill that some say would be more powerful then Roe Versus Wade.
Also at yesterday's session, Speaker Sheldon Silver asked for a higher minimum wage. It's now 7-25 an hour in New York.

This session of government is 62 days long, running until June 21st.
