If you provide alcohol to someone who causes a fatal crash, you could be sent to prison yourself in Pennsylvania. The Pennsylvania house voted unanimously Wednesday to make it a first-degree felony, with a potential 40-year jail sentence, to intentionally, knowingly or recklessly provide a controlled substance to someone who dies as a result. Current law requires prosecutors to prove the person who provided the drugs did so with malice. The bill was sent to the senate.
