Hydrofracking Could Be Approved In The Southern Tier Only

Hydrofracking could be coming to New York, if you live in the Southern Tier. The "New York Times" reports Governor Cuomo is considering a proposal that would allow the controversial drilling method to take place only in certain counties along the New York-Pennsylvania border, in the deepest parts of the Marcellus Shale. Even within that window, it would be allowed only in Broome, Chemung, Chenango, Steuben and Tioga counties, and only in towns that agree to it. Though this has been talked about among lawmakers for several months, it's still contingent on D.E.C. approval.
