Hundreds Of Virginia Abortions Clinics May Have To Close

Virginia has just become the first state to require clinics that provide first trimester abortions-- to meet the same standards as hospitals. The clinics were virtually unregulated-- they required no were listed as doctor's offices, which require no inspections, and no general oversite by the board of health. Victoria Cobb of the Family Foundation says the new law will turn this over to the Board of Health, and they will have to set the type of regulations. They will set the type of surgery done and set new rules for inspections. Two pro-life democrats voted with republicans to pass the bill. The republican governor of Virginia is expected to sign it.
