How To Talk To Your Kids About The Boston Bombing

The bombings at the Boston Marathon have left at least 176 people injured and 3 dead. 17 are in critical condition, so the death toll may rise. We do know all the runners from Pennsylvania are safe; and we believe all from New York are safe as well. More then 100 people were running just from the city of Rochester. Corning, New York says it will not cancel the Wineglass Marathon, the marathon at the end of April in Rochester is still on, and London is beefing up security for its marathon next week.

What is the best way to talk to your children about mass tragedies? The National Child Traumatic Stress Network has 2 documents on how to speak to kids. They encourage you to find out what your child already knows, correct inaccurate information, encourage them to ask questions, and limit their media exposure.
