(Washington, DC)  --  The House is set to take up the issue of abortion funding today for the second day in a row.  The House Energy and Commerce Committee's health subpanel will hold a hearing on the proposed Protect Life Act.  The bill would bar the recently passed healthcare reform act from funding abortion.

Today's hearing is the second this week on the emotionally charged abortion issue.  Tuesday, a House Judiciary subcommittee held a hearing on the No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act, which seeks to eliminate federal funding for abortion.  Meanwhile, a number of Democratic lawmakers gathered Tuesday for press conferences to condemn the bills.  Senator Barbara Boxer of California called the proposals an "attack on women's health."
