Heritage Christian Services Founder Steps Down

The head of one of the largest and most well-known Christian care centers in the Fingerlakes for disabled adults is stepping down. Bob Pieters started Heritage Christian Services in Webster in 1984, after his son was diagnosed with a developmental disability. He and his wife had a heart for he disabled. Even though they had 5 other children, they adopted 3 more special needs kids. Three decades later, Pieters is stepping down at Heritage, with the organization strong and growing. It now has 70 group homes, housing 380 residents, with a waiting list of 450 people, as well as a retreat in the Adirondacks, a horse stable in Webster, a farm in Spencerport, and a program that helps 11-hundred disabled adults off grounds. The new CEO takes over January 1st.
