The Cambridge, Massachusetts police officer who arrested black Harvard professor Henry Louis Gates Jr. says he is tired of being called a racist. In an exclusive interview with WHDH-TV in Boston that aired on NBC's "Today" show, Sergeant James Crowley says Gates was acting strangely and provoking him as he tried to make sure there wasn't an intruder in the house.

Crowley was at Gates' home to investigate a reported break-in that turned out to just be the professor trying to get into his own front door. Ironically, Crowly is considered an expert on the subject of racial profiling. The New York "Post" reports he has taught a class on the subject at the Lowell Police Academy for five years.
