Gun Rights Groups Plan To Appeal Safe Act Decision

Gun rights groups vow to appeal a judge’s ruling this week that upholds most provisions of the SAFE Act. Judge William Skretny in Buffalo concluded the ban on large capacity magazines and sale of semi-automatic weapons is constitutional because if achieves an important government interest in ensuring the public’s safety.   Starting January 15th, it will be illegal for gun-owners to possess firearms that hold more than 10 rounds.  Judge Skretny struck down a provision of the safe act that made loading more than seven rounds a misdemeanor.  he called that an “arbitrary” number.  Gun rights groups plan to appeal the decision to a higher court and vow to make the SAFE Act a campaign issue in 2014.
