Governor Patersons Approval Rating Keeps Sliding

A new poll shows New York Governor David Paterson is becoming less and less popular in the Empire State. The Sienna College poll finds the Democrat is viewed favorably by 29-percent of voters. 58-percent have an unfavorable view.

Only 19-percent of New Yorkers have a positive view of Governor Paterson's job performance, and 78-percent have a negative view. Right now, the poll finds he would lose to either Republican Rudy Giuliani or Democrat Andrew Cuomo in the 2010 governortorial race. Only 14-percent would re-elect Mr. Paterson.

The news comes at a time when the governor needs support to negotitate a new state budget.
