David Paterson continues to lay the groundwork to run for his first full term as governor next year. Governor Paterson publicly challenges his "phantom" candidates to come forward and explain how they would make a better chief executive for New York. Governor Paterson appeared on CNBC's "Squawk Box" Monday, attempting to make a case that he has faced difficult choices in his first 18-months in office, including erasing an eight-billion-dollar budget deficit. Governor Paterson bridged the budget gap in raising taxes and fees last spring. The Governor faces pressure from the White House and historically low poll numbers to bow out of the race before New Yorkers head to the polls next November.
