Gm Tests Selling Cars On Ebay In California

People in California can now buy a car without making the dreaded trip to the dealership. General Motors is testing a program where California consumers can purchase a GM vehicle online through the eBay website. More than 225 GM dealers in that state are involved in the online program that runs from Tuesday through September 8th. Consumers can compare prices across those dealerships and either agree to pay the advertised vehicle price or negotiate a different price online with the dealer. They also can arrange vehicle financing.

GM, which emerged from bankruptcy a month ago, targeted California for this online experiment because it's the nation's most populous state and the biggest U.S. market for new vehicle sales. Interested consumers can go online to gm.ebay.com starting Tuesday.
