Girl Scouts Could Be Banned From Catholic Churches

05.11.12 | Sarah Harnisch

The Catholic church is investigating the Girl Scouts, and could ban scouts from holding meetings in its churches across America. Bishops say they are concerned that the Scouts are promoting abortion and contraception. The Girl Scouts have been criticized for their materials that feature links to groups like Oxfam and the Sierra Club. Those groups promote access to contraception. The Girl Scouts say they've responded to the concerns, and have even changed some material. Catholic girls make up a quarter of the nation's 3-million Girl Scouts.
