Gas Customers Bills To Rise Statewide In Pennsylvania
02.08.12 |
A bill authorizing a new charge on your gas bill is on its way to Pennsylvania Governor Tom Corbett's desk. The bill will allow gas companies to add a charge of up to 5-percent of your bill in order to speed replacement of 12-thousand miles of cast iron and steel pipes that carry the gas to your home. The gas companies can face fines of up to 200-thousand-dollars a day if the pipes aren't replaced. The bill sped through both houses after the deadly gas explosions in Allentown and Philadelphia. The House voted 194 to 0 to send it to the governor's desk last night. There's no word on when the fees would kick in.
