(Fort Worth, TX)  --  American Airlines is recalling about 800 furloughed employees.  The airline is sending recall notices to 545 flight attendants and 250 pilots to capitalize on new international flying and business opportunities with British Airways and Iberia.  The employees will also help strengthen the airlines' cornerstone hubs and prepare for a pending alliance with Japan Airlines.

AMR Corporation CEO Gerard Arpey says the move is exactly the kind of growth the airline was hoping to achieve with its network strategy.  Notices to about 225 flight attendants will be sent this month, and the first group of 25 pilots will be recalled in mid-November.
