Freedom Tower Name Dropped From Ground Zero

The centerpiece of the rebuilding effort at Ground Zero is the 1,776 ft. tall building, which the Port Authority is no longer referring to as "Freedom Tower." Port Authority chairman Anthony Coscia says the skyscraper's moniker is being dropped as the agency attempts to sign more occupants, and Executive Director Christopher Ward says marketing reasons come into play:

The agency acknowledged the change as the first commercial tenant signs a lease to move into One World Trade Center. But former New York Governor George Pataki says the building should keep the Freedom Tower name.

The Freedom Tower is now meeting street-level and expected to open in 2013.
