(Washington, DC)  --  Former President Jimmy Carter has resumed a full schedule of activities after being hospitalized for what he described as "a brief bout with a virus" last week.  The 86-year-old Carter appeared on CBS' "The Early Show" this morning.  Carter said he's feeling fine after one day of intensive hospital care.

On the topic of midterm elections, Carter predicted Democrats may have a tough time.  He also said, whatever the outcome, President Obama will still have two years left in office to focus on jobs and the economy.
