(Cleveland, OH)   --  With his 86th birthday on Friday rapidly approaching, former President Jimmy Carter is being described as being in "good spirits" the day after becoming hospitalized with an upset stomach in Cleveland.  The MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland says Carter continues to recover from the stomach problem which resulted in him being rushed to the hospital Tuesday.

Carter's doctors determined the likely cause of the stomach unrest was a viral infection which is currently clearing up.  Carter developed the stomach problem on a flight to Cleveland where he had been scheduled to attend a signing for his new book "White House Diary."
