Former President George W. Bush and his wife Laura are back in Texas. Thousands greeted the Bushes at a welcome home ceremony in Midland. Bush thanked the enthusiastic crowd for its support, adding he's thankful to have had the honor to serve as president for eight years.

Bush says the country has seen some of the most trying days in American history. He added today is a great day for America as, quote, "a good man" took the oath of office.

Bush told the crowd he always stayed true to his principles and left the Oval Office with the same values he had the first day he took office. Bush added he's coming home with his head held high.

Bush called the presidency a joyous experience, but added "it is good to be home." The Bushes had coffee with President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle before the new president was sworn into office in Washington, DC.
