Jamaican authorities have released initial findings of their investigation into the crash landing of an American Airlines passenger jet at an airport there last month. Jamaica's Civil Aviation Authority says the Boeing 737 was moving at over 186 miles-per-hour when "the wheels made initial contact at about four-thousand-feet down the 89-hundred-foot runway. That's a typical landing speed for a 737. The report says the airplane bounced once then settled but was still moving at 72 miles per hour when it ran off the end of the runway, through a fence and across a road. The fuselage had broken into three major pieces by the time everything came to a stop. While nobody has said the words "pilot error" yet, the report does say no mechanical problems have been discovered with the aircraft so far. More than 90 of the 148 passengers and six crew members on board were injured in the crash. The flight had originated at Reagan Airport in Washington, DC.
