Final Fracking Review Due In A Little Over 3 Weeks In Ny
01.14.13 |
The end may be in sight for the high volume hydrfracking review in New york state. There's no word yet on extending the comment period for a study on the gas drilling technique, and that means the review that has been going on since 2008 could wrap up by February 13th, a little over 3 weeks from today. New York regulators have to signal a decision by that date for finalizing regulations. Then the D.E.C. faces a February 27th deadline to either finalize the new rules, or let them expire. This time, combing through comments will be even harder. The previous comment period garnered 80-thousand responses, the comment period which ended last Friday, garnered at least 204 thousand comments.
