A spokesman for the New York State Correctional Officers and Police Benevolent Association called the escape plan "complex and detailed." A tip put the facility on lock down during the day on Friday. During the search several weapons were found. The union representing facility employees said quick-acting correction officers at the Elmira Correctional Facility helped foil an escape plot planned for some point over the four-day Fourth of July weekend. A statement Saturday said there is an ongoing investigation and even joked there are no holidays inside New York's state prison system.
