The number of illegal immigrants entering the U.S. is on the downhill slide.  The Pew Hispanic Center says the new estimates show the first significant decrease in unauthorized immigrants in two decades.  The decline has led to an eight-percent reduction in the current illegal immigrant population in the United States.

Between March 2007 and March 2009, 300-thousand immigrants illegally entered the U.S.   That's compared to 550-thousand during the same period two years earlier.  The biggest decline of illegal immigrants was among those who came from Latin American countries, other than Mexico.
