Dec Commissioner Joe Martens Says Theres No Timeline On Fracking

D.E.C. Commissioner Joe Martens sat through a heated hearing yesterday on high volume hydrofracking in New York State, with the deadline, quickly approaching this month. Martens said there's no timetable on a decision on fracking in New York state. He said if the deadline is missed, they'll simply hold a new comment period. If that happens, it will likely extend the drilling moratorium for months. To hit the February 27th deadline, the DEC study would have to be finalized and published by February 13th, that's a week from tomorrow. This study has already taken 4 and a half years.
