Dc Comics Launching Full Sized Newspaper Strips
06.16.09 |
A weekly series of comic strips will be launched in July and will be printed on full-size newspaper pages like the Sunday funnies. The 12-week project is from DC Comics and will feature the company's superheroes such as Superman, Batman and others. It'll make its debut July 8th in comic book shops and the Superman strip will appear in "USA Today." A full-page installment will appear in the newspaper and also at the paper's website. The return to newsprint has been dubbed "Wednesday Comics" for the day new comic books are released in stores. In comic shops it'll offer 15 different stories for three-dollars-99-cents in a 14-by-20-inch format. DC Comics' art director Mark Chiarello says with "Wednesday Comics" he's tried to recapture a certain romance of the big old Sunday funnies. He says, quote, "Why not dust off the format and have a little fun."
