The suburban Pennsylvania swim club that sparked a furor by banning a Philadelphia day camp of mostly minority children appears to be trying to make amends. The Valley Club in Huntingdon Valley has decided to invite the 65 children from the Creative Steps camp in Northeast Philadelphia to return. A law firm that had filed a discrimination suit against the club on Friday said the club's gesture would put the suit on hold. On June 29th, the children from Creative Steps made their first visit to the club and reportedly heard members make racial remarks and saw parents escort their children from the pool. The club's president, John G. Duesler Junior, said he had not heard back from the director of Creative Steps, Alethea Wright, about the offer.
