Dads Role In Christmas
11.19.10 |
The pastor of a mega church in Washington state is on a crusade this holiday season to get dads involved in Christmas. Yesterday, Mark Driscoll of Mars Hill Church in Seattle released his "10 Daddy Christmas tips" to get fathers to give the most at Christmas time. He says moms generally seem to get most of the holiday prep work done; the gift research and shopping, the wrapping, the food, and the decorations. But he had some tips for dads to stay in the Christmas equation: he encouraged fathers to take their kids out alone during the month of December and talk about the reason for the season. He said, as the leader of the home, fathers need to know when to say "no" to protect their wives from unneeded stress. He said children need to see their dads give generously. And he said you can find fun, creative ways to get family traditions that point to Jesus in your holiday routine.
