Cuomo Pushes Abortion Proposal

06.04.13 | Abby Lutcher

Cuomo drew swift opposition in January when he issued a rallying cry to expand late-term abortion on demand. Cuomo has since described his proposal as simply protecting current rights under the Roe v. Wade court decision in 1973, which is widely supported. A Senate Republican spokesman says Monday the governor's proposal appears to be either an extreme expansion of late-term abortions or a political maneuver to appease his Democratic base. Cuomo still hasn't released a bill detailing his proposal. That hinders discussion in the Legislature and among the public. The legislative session ends June 20.
