County Public Works Commissioner Wants To Use Goats Not Lawmowers
04.09.12 |
The Hornell Evening Tribune reports ( http://bit.ly/Igj1Du ) that Steuben (stoo-BEHN') County Public Works Commissioner Vince Spagnoletti wants to put goats and sheep to work trimming the grass at the Bath landfill.
He figures letting the ruminants roam the 32-acre site about 60 miles south of Rochester could save about $5,000 a year in labor, equipment and gas.
And there are no worries about the workforce wandering off: Spagnoletti says the county can use a grant to fence in the land.
