01.04.13 | Sarah Harnisch

Your smartphone is about to get tougher. Corning Incorporated, the Southern Tier's largest employer, is poised to unveil Gorilla Glass 3 next week. The glass is used in most smartphones, as well as tablet computers and high definition televisions. Corning says the new version of the glass is three times more resistant to scratching then the previous version. If scratches occur, they are less visible and less likely to lead to cracks or breaks. We'll get more details at next week's International Consumer Electronics show.
