A mega-media deal may be on the horizon. The "Los Angeles Times" cites sources as saying cable television giant Comcast Corporation has an eye on NBC Universal. Comcast has long been in the market to broaden its entertainment offerings and acquiring the entertainment outlet could be just what the doctor ordered. Along with the broadcast network and movie studio, cable channels such as USA, Syfy, CNBC and MSNBC would be included. NBC parent General Electric has repeatedly claimed it's not interested in a sale of its holdings. However, in six weeks minority investor Vivendi will exercise an option to drop its stake in NBC Universal. In that case, GE would need to cough up four-billion dollars to pay Vivendi, or bring new investors on board. Analyst Stephen Tusa of JP Morgan estimated NBC Universal's worth at between 30-billion and 35-billion dollars. A separate analysis by Sanford C. Bernstein and Company put the figure at about 23 billion.
