Christian Flick Ranks First At The Theatres

A Christian family flick beat out a blockbuster at the theatres this weekend. Interestingly, "The Voyage of the Dawn Treader" did better at the box office this weekend then any other film. It even bumped "The Tourist," starring Johnny Depp and Angelina Jolie, off the top of the sales charts. Treader took in 24 million dollars, which, in retrospect-- isn't that good for the opening weekend of a Chronicles of Narnia film. "The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe" made over 70 million it's first two days in theatres. Even "Prince Caspian" brought cash in the 40 million dollar range. Still, what's interesting is that a family film beat out a blockbuster that scored well with critics. The third ranked film this weekend was Disney's "Tangled," another popcorn muncher for parents and their kids.  Analysts say it shows the market for family films is strong.
