02.19.13 | Sarah Harnisch

The town of Towanda is coming together to help a family of five that was devastated by a fire this past weekend. A car, food, clothing, and money has already been given to the Yoders, who lost their home, their vehicle, and their 2 year old son over the weekend. There are four drop off spots in Bradford County, if you want to help.

Who Knew? Consignments on Route 6 in Wyalusing
Chrizma Salon at 200 Thomas St. in Towanda
Julie’s Country Kitchen on Route 6 in Troy
Dee’s Tax Service on South Elmer Ave. in Sayre

Investigators still don't know the cause of the blaze, but there were some heroes. A neighbor spotted the fire and ran over with a ladder. Though he had a broken arm, John David Yoder, the father, desperately tried to rescue his two year old son, but he died of smoke inhalation, asleep in his crib.

A benefit dinner is planned for the Yoders March 3rd. The location is yet to be determined.
