Butterball Turkey Talk Line Getting Lots Of Money Saving Questions
11.24.09 |
Plenty of questions on how to serve a tasty Thanksgiving meal on a tighter budget are coming in to the Butterball Turkey Talk-Line this year. Talk-Line expert Marge Klindera [[ clin-DARE-uh ]] says the operators there are ready with several money-saving suggestions. For instance, use more common ingredients in the dishes you make to shorten your Thanksgiving shopping list or have each guest bring something for the meal.
The Turkey Talk-Line gets more than 100-thousand how-to questions on preparing turkeys every November and December. Klindera says a common question year after year is about thawing the big bird. Butterball recommends a thawing time of 24 hours in the refrigerator for every four pounds of turkey. A quicker method is placing the turkey breast side down in cold water to thaw, which requires 30 minutes per pound. Thanksgiving cooks can call the Turkey Talk-Line at 1-800-BUTTERBALL weekdays from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Central Time now through December 31st, or go online to www.butterball.com
