Buffalo Pastor Goes Homeless For A Week
11.24.10 |
A Buffalo pastor is living homeless all this week to raise awareness about the problem of poverty. Erik Johns with the Buffalo Dream Center will be sleeping under overpasses and eating in soup kitchens through Saturday. He's been doing this for 12 years. He says he has met veterans and those who are divorced who are homeless-- and there is one thing they have in common: they have no hope. His team is trying this week not to fix every problem, but to shine the light of Jesus in the darkness, and be someone who gives them a hug, a handshake, or says a prayer with them that keeps them going another day. Another reason Pastor Johns lives homeless for a week is to raise awareness about his Boxes of Love campaign. He hopes to collect 35-hundred unwrapped Christmas presents for needy children in Buffalo. If you want to be a part of that, click here.
