British Air Walk Out Could Lead To Us Flight Cancellations
05.24.10 |
A five-day strike that begins today involving thousands of British Airways flight attendants has led to the cancellation of 40-percent of scheduled departures and 30-percent of arrivals at London's Heathrow Airport. Heathrow is Europe's busiest airport. The strike is likely to adversely affect air travel in the U.S. as long haul flights to New York, Baltimore and Phoenix are expected to be cancelled. Thousands of flight attendants walked out after their union and the airline could not reach agreement. Last year the airline sought a wage freeze and a reduction in flight staff for international routes.
