Bring Your Gun To Work Bill Before Pa Senate

Legislation that the Pennsylvania Senate Judiciary Committee approved Thursday takes on the question: Which takes precedence an employer's property rights or an employee's gun rights? The committee voted 10-4 that an employee's gun rights win out. It passed a proposal making it illegal for most private employers to ban employees from having a firearm in their vehicles while parked in the work parking lot. This so-called Bring your Gun to Work proposal would require gun-owning employees to have the weapon locked out of sight in their cars. It also would require employers who fired an employee for bringing a gun onto their property to reinstate them to their position and pay them back wages. Democratic lawmakers balked at the proposal.
