Boy Scouts Take Their Vote Next Week On Allowing Gay Scouts

The Boy Scouts have enlisted a high profile advisor to play peacemaker between churches and Boy Scouts ahead of their huge vote next week on allowing gay scouts. His name is Ralph Reed. Reed is the founder of the Christian Coalition, and now the president of the Faith and Freedom Coalition, and has arranged meetings and conerence calls between conservative Christian leaders and BSA officials who support the policy change. Troops could be kicked out of thousands of churches nationwide if the scouts change their policy. Faith-based groups sponsor one million scouts; about 70-percent of the entire membership.  Sometime during the week of May 20th, 14-hundred delegates representing Boy Scout troops from across the country will gather in Texas and vote on the policy.
