Binghamton Boy Scout Earns All Merit Badges

A Binghamton University freshman has earned all 121 merit badges offered by the Boy Scouts of America. It is an accomplishment the local arm of the organization calls "an almost unheard of feat."

His name is Shawn Goldsmith, and he earned his final badge for bugling just in time for his 18th birthday in November. To put this in perspective, you only need 21 badges to become an Eagle Scout.

Goldsmith says he stuck with it because of the support of his grandmother, who died just before he earned his last badge.
