Billy Graham Hospitalized
05.12.11 |
The Reverend Billy Graham has been admitted to a hospital in North Carolina, with what appears to be pneumonia. Ken Garfield spent 10 years touring around the world with Graham. He told Newschannel 36 out of Ashville, North Carolina "our heart skips a beat when something like this happens, and he goes into the hospital with pneumonia, and you just wonder about the seriousness of it, and you feel for him." A hospital spokesman says he was admitted Wednesday morning after a night of breathing trouble. Garfield says he's been looking noticeably more frail since he stopped touring. "The New York Crusade in 2005 was his last major national public event, and he struggled real hard through the sermons. And each time he's had a photo op or an event at the Billy Graham library, it's quite obvious that he's aged physically, and appears so much more frail. It's very poiniant to me." The hospital says antibiotics they put the legendary evangelical leader on are working well, and he is resting comfortably.
