Steuben County New York Sheriff Deputies have arrested an 18-year-old high school student for bringing a gun onto school grounds. Alec Bowen, from Avoca, is charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance, and criminal possession of a weapon. The Avoca Central’s school resource officer was investigating a report of smoking on school grounds when he found the firearm stashed in the bed of Bowen’s pick-up truck. Bowen was then removed from school grounds. He was arraigned in Avoca town court and sent to the Steuben County jail on 10-thousand dollars bond.
