Arizona Pastor Sent To Jail For Home Bible Study
07.10.12 |
A Phoenix, Arizona pastor begins a 60 day jail sentence today for holding a bible study in his home. Michael Salman is a father to 6 little girls, and says he's facing religious persecution. Suzanne Salman, his wife, says "we want to stand for not only our beliefs, but for every believer in Phoenix, that wants to host a bible study in their home. That they can do it without fear of the city coming in and saying no, this is no longer just your home, this needs to become a church." The Arizona court system declared Salman was running a chuch out of a private dwelling, and breaking zoning and fire laws. They ruled it was not a contitutional violation of religious freedom. Salman says there are people in the city who are allowed the same size gatherings for poker or football-- But not religious purposes.
