More than 81,000 Pennsylvanians were among the 2.2 million Americans who signed up for health insurance through the Affordable Care Act, according to statistics released in Harrisburg. Halfway through the open enrollment period, federal officials say the insurance marketplaces are picking up momentum after a lumbering start marred by technical glitches and consumer confusion.  In October, less than 25-hundred PA residents were able to buy insurance through HealthCare.gov. A lot of attention in the next three months will center on getting more young people enrolled in the marketplace. Health experts say enrolling younger people will help control the costs for the rest of the population getting insurance through the Affordable Care Act. Twenty-four percent of those who signed up for insurance were between 18 and 34, while 33 percent were between 55 and 64, according to the statistics from HHS. Officials said they expect to see a big push of insurance sign-ups before enrollment ends March 31st.
