Mitt Romney’s Mormonism - it’s really just a matter of faith.

A lot of you have been wondering lately, does it matter if a Mormon occupies the White House? It scares a lot of Christians given the tenants of the Mormon faith. I strongly encourage you to read the God Makers by Ed Decker. It differentiates in stark contrast why the faith of Joseph Smith is not anything like the Gospel of Jesus Christ. When a Mormon missionary comes to your door …ask them the following question. Do you believe, as God once was …man is.  And, As God is, man may become. Basically, Mormons teach God was once a man and man may become God. Doesn’t sound like Christianity to me.  Also, Mormonism mixes many occult-like practices within it’s supposed family-friendly exterior.  Indeed, Dr. Robert Jeffress, the Texas pastor who boldly proclaimed Mormonism to be a cult was spot

But here’s where it gets difficult. Should Christians not vote for Mitt Romney simply because of his religion??

I like to use the car mechanic analogy.  If my vehicle needs repaired, I’m taking it to the mechanic who will do the best job.  Ahab’s auto Body, Ghandi’s garage, or ….Romney’s Repair shop. I still believe in an all-powerful God who raises up leaders as he sees fit.   I do not believe a Mitt Romney presidency would surprise God or ruin this nation.  Let’s not be so alarmist in our thinking.   Christians can unite behind a politician of a different faith, because it really comes down to a matter of faith.  Do you have enough faith in  God that he is still in control.

When the people voted to have Saul lead them, God let them. He is still in control, but we are responsible for our actions, and in God's righteousness, may be disciplined. Unless it is according to his will. May HIS will be done!!

Why would a Christian Ministry even be talking about a non Christian candidate when Michelle Bachmann is in the race also???
God could not be clearer on an issue such as this than in 2 Corinthians 6:14-18; Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in [them]; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean [thing]; and I will receive you, And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.
Michelle Bachmann has the strongest voice (and history) concerning her Christian faith including but not limited to Pro-Life, adoptions, etc.
She also has experience in the highest levels of Federal Government intelligence and many other committees and departments (including the IRS). She is a successful tax lawyer and has by far more insight about "The Problem" and "The solutions".
It is unbelievable how the media is IGNORING HER!
1 Timothy 2:1-3, says we should be exhorting people to pray for the President, etc.
James 1:5 says pray and ask The Lord for wisdom.
Pray that we may be like the children of Issachar in
1 Chronicles 12:32; And of the children of Issachar, [which were men] that had understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought to do; the heads of them [were] two hundred; and all their brethren [were] at their commandment
.....and not like those spoken of in Hosea 4:6; My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.
Pray that The Lord would lift up a RIGHTEOUS leader that we may rejoice (in Jesus) rather than mourn.
Proverbs 29:2; When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn
Pray 1 Timothy 2:4 for Romney? Absolutely!

We cannot be so naive to think that our vote is not connected with our moral standing. If someone represents something contrary to the essentials of our faith (that God is 3 persons Father, Son, Spirit and that they are, always were and always will be the only God in 3 persons) then yes we do indeed have a God given responsibility to vote against it or that person. The comment about God being in control is absolutely true. However He has given us the responsiblity and privelage to vote with discernment, integrity and conviction. We do need to stand up for the truth that the Spirit has placed in our minds and hearts otherwise we are not the salt or the light but rather "just another one in the crowd".

Dear Mr. Price,
My wife and I respectfully disagree with the end of your Mitt Romney news blog. As listeners and supports of Family Life, and as being in your position as News Director we would graciously ask that you prayerfully consider either revising or eliminating your car analogy as it is vitally important that we as Christians stand for the moral standards and convictions of our Faith in all areas of our life. Be Reminded of the Fall Sharathon Theme: ONE TRUE GOD!
Sincerely,

I believe Christians can support a Mormon President without necessarily endorsing the mormon faith. While Mitt Romney would not be my first choice as the GOP nominee, I would vote for him in the General election. Dear Christian brothers and sisters ...do not let dogmatism be the reason we get four more years of Obama...our country can't afford it

Let's be careful to not jump from the "frying pan into the fire" or (vice versa). Although I have not and will not vote for President Obama we need to be careful in assuming that Mr. Romney is any different or implying that he would be a more suitable representative/leader for our nation. If we support someone through our vote then yes we are indeed endorsing what they stand for. It is an automatic connection. I would highly recommend that all Christians everywhere unite in prayer and fasting for this coming presidency and select the most god fearing man available or pencil in an alternate.

My problem with Romney is based upon his choice of beliefs. Mormonism is based on deceptive and false gospel. Do I trust a man that is blind to the truth to run my country? If he is not wise enough to see the falsehoods in the book of mormon will he be wise enough to see falsehood in other people?

I feel Rachel hit this correctly on the nailhead, if Mitt Romney is so blind as to being a Mormon & doesn't seek the Truth, then "how" can he possibly run our country? He would fall into the enemies tracks of lies. May our Lord direct us believers to vote for the correct person HE wants as our future president. In the meantime fellow believers, please, please, please be in much steady praying for our country and future president! It is "up to us" to turn the tide if we will humble ourselves and pray, believe, trust, and do our duty! God will then bless us all!!!!

I agree (and disagree) with so many statements above. We as Christians have dropped the torch several times in the past. Are we really willing to all pray, work and follow through this election, the year before and the years after? Yes, mormonism is a cult; but let me say, we (as Christians) voted for others who did not believe all the words of Jesus (pray a person into heaven who had already died; also believing if they don't attend Good Friday service they will go to hell, if they don't work enough they won't go to heaven, etc.). These people have heard wrong gospels and believe it. We need to be a missionary to our family and neighbors, do you honestly do that? If we don't 'show & tell' how will they know? (their 'religious' friends and family aren't going to tell them.) I have continually stated 'I will vote for the person who is against abortion b/c how he treats a baby is how he will/does treat old people and others. My husband and I want and hope and pray a Bible-believing Christian will be our leader (God help us pick up the pieces after this president who is God-hating and Christian-hating and America-hating; don't get me wrong there are Islams who like America (Christians & God??) but should not be our leaders. When election day comes in 12 months may there be such a drastic difference between the two candidates that we will not have a 'split' in the republican party. Please pray and work while there is still daylight. Blessings.

I have been a listener of FL for many years. I love the station. I have to disagree with the station always trying to portray the Mormons as some cult or group Christians need to be afraid of. Mitt Romney has wonderful values - strong families (he's never been divorced), strong moral values (no sex outside of marriage, abortion is wrong, etc.), strong values of service to one another, strong personal financial values (avoid debt), etc.. There are many christian churches out there and they all interpret the bible in different ways. Mormons believe Jesus Christ came to earth to pay the price for all our sins and through him we can be saved. How different is that from what other christians believe. On top of Mitt's wonderful christian values, he's have the background to economically turn this country around. How do you think Mitt got so wealthy? It wasn't because he tithed 10% of his gross income to the church. He helped companies because more profitable. How can we as christians not vote for Mitt Romney - a person who actually lives his christian values, who has a huge portofilio of helping companies turn themselves around and become more profitable. Look what Mitt did for the Olympics in Salt Lake City. They were loosing lots of money so they brought Mitt in. He turned everything around and the Olympics that year made money. Economic issues asside, for me the moral issues can have the biggest effect in the long run on this great country of ours. Mitt is moral to the core, more so than any other candidate that I see running right now. Get off this FLN web site a little and log onto MORMON.ORG and do a little research for yourselves, unbias from others opinion and you'll see that no-one should be afraid of electing a mormon - or should I say a Member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. As Christians we should do our homework for who to vote for, and then pray and ask the Lord if our choice is correct. We won't be led astray.

Shame on you, What is God? God is LOVE. I haven't read much love here. Jesus came here to save us. Let he that has no sin cast the first stone. God is in complete control over everything. He knows the beginning and the end. No one get to the White House by accident. I haven't found one person on this earth that I agree 100%, does that mean I can help them. I haven't found the perfect church, any church I walk into become inperfect, the second I walk in. There is only one God and I think God will take care of the believers and non-believers in his time. WE need to band together and stop satin from doing his work. A little note to David, God saved me and totally transformed me. I give my 10% + to church, charity,or where ever I see a need. I went from Welfare to living very confortable debt free (except morgage). God is Great.

I just listened to the noon report discussion on this topic. If The election is between the "presumptive Republican nominee Mitt Romney" a Mormon, & President Obama who claims to be a Christian who does a Christian choose??? First of all Rick Santorus is truly a Christian in DEED not just name & Romney is NOT the Republican nominee unless CHRISTIANS neglect their duty & vote for the one the media tells them to. Our freedom in this country is a matter of STEWARDSHIP We will be held accountable if we as believers neglect it. Obama's policies are destroying our freedoms as Christians. Talk is cheap Judge a tree by its FRUIT.
