Wheels for the World

Helping the disabled

We ended our collection with a total of 612 wheelchairs including 20 pediatric wheelchairs! Great job everyone!

Thank you for your participation for the Wheels for the World 2009.  Click below to see the pictures from the collection and drop off sites around the Family Life listening area.

Over the past several years, Family Life has joined forces with Joni and Friends in support of Wheels for the World – an international program that restores wheelchairs and gives them to disabled people in developing countries.

We love supporting this cause because it brings simple joys of mobility and independence to people without these freedoms. Did you know that one wheelchair could exceed a year’s salary in some countries? That's mind blowing. The gift of mobility can really be a dream come true.

So if you or anyone you know has used, non-electric wheelchairs collecting dust, we’ll take them off your hands during Wheels for the World. Family Life coordinates multiple collection sites across New York and Pennsylvania, so check our events calendar in May for drop-off locations nearest you.
