Want to do something crazy and different with your friends and youth group this summer? Come to Converge 180 and join the churches and ministries at Spiedie Fest under the Hope Tent for an all new flash mob! The purpose of the flash mob is to have fun and direct people at Spiedie Fest back to the Hope Tent. It also will help support charities in the Binghamton area. The Hope Tent is partnering with Wendy’s Walk for Kids to help raise money for local charities.

The Flash Mob will conclude with everyone walking off the field - without their shoes! Shoes left behind will be donated to children in need. Local charities will receive $1 per pound of shoes collected.

Want to join in the fun? Here’s the plan!

What:  A flash mob to be danced/choreographed to Press Play’s NY2LA.
When: Friday, August 5th 2011, between 5 pm and 6 pm, right before the balloon launch. Check-in at the Hope Tent between 4:00 pm and 4:30 pm for your line assignment and information. The Hope Tent is located near the main stage – look for the big red balloon.
Where:  Spiedie Fest, Otsiningo Park, Binghamton, NY in the field in front of the Hope Tent.
How:
(1).Let Family Life know that your youth group/church would like to be involved. Email Katie Bernier or call 800.927.9083, ext. 257 with the following info:
•    Youth group/church/individual name
•    Leader’s name
•    Number of people in your group
•    Phone number
(2). Learn the flash mob dance that is choreographed below.
(3). Bring an extra pair of shoes. (When you leave the shoes you want to donate in the field - you MUST have another pair with you to put on after the flash mob. Bare feet are not allowed at Spiedie Fest.)
(4.) Get excited and invite other churches and friends to be involved!

Below are the "how to" videos. We will divide groups into different lines when you check-in. The most important thing is to learn the basic dance moves. Family Life staff and volunteers will be instructing each line, so don’t worry, you will have someone to follow.  Please note: If you’re familiar with the song, section 8 (the rap part) will not be used in the dance.

The best element of a flash mob is surprise!  So after you “check-in” at the Hope Tent, groups will be encouraged to mingle in the field. When the dance is ready to begin, an air horn will sound, signaling everyone to come out of the crowd and lineup. Immediately after everyone is in line, the music will start playing over the loud speakers and the dance will begin.

Press Play’s NY2LA is a song about spreading love – that is the goal of this flash mob – to spread love to our community and let people know that the Hope Tent and churches in Binghamton love them.  For questions, more information, or to register – please contact Katie Bernier at Family Life (800.927.9083).
