The apostle Paul writes of the struggle of living for Christ vs. the flesh.

Romans 6:16  Don't you realize that you become the slave of whatever you choose to obey?  You can be a slave to sin, which leads to death, or you can choose to obey God . . . (NLT)

There's an old saying:  "You are what you eat."  It matters what you do with your time here on earth! Whoever or whatever controls your thoughts -- controls how you feel.

If you want to be Christ-like in your responses, model humility, and exercise faith:  choose to obey His commands in Scripture.  If you want to please God -- you must trust Him with your life.  If you want to hear God say, "Well done good and faithful servant", you have to obey Him and lean on Him for strength to daily live out His will for your life.  It's a choice:  obey God and draw near to Him . . . or obey evil and separate yourself forever from God's presence.
