King Solomon shares sage advice for daily living.

Proverbs 17:22  A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a broken spirit saps a person's strength.  (NLT)

Ever notice, discontentment will wipe the smile right off your face? Another joy-killer is a clouded conscience.  A person like this may strive to be cheerful, as a car's engine strives to start when it's out of gas -- but try as you might -- it's wasted effort!

In a world of tainted consciences and discontented spirits - a person of sunny disposition may be mocked and accused of being out of touch!  I wonder if that mockery comes from a secret wish for that self-same cheer?  How can you have a ready smile when you are bogged down with unresolved issues?   Medical professionals say a cheerful person is a healthy person.  So, keep short accounts with God and your neighbor; be content with what you have, and you will find yourself cheerful . . . and joy will be your companion!  :-)
