The apostle Matthew records Jesus’ invitation to come and find rest.

Matthew 11:28-29 [Jesus said] Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.   (KJV)

These words invite Christ-followers to come and receive rest and relief from the cares of life. If you are working as hard as you can to live a righteous life apart from a relationship with Christ, you will find life frustrating and unfulfilling! Also, for the Christ-follower, the Lord offers a rest to those who will submit to His commands and direction. Like two oxen yoked together . . .  if they try to go their own way they accomplish nothing; if they cooperate together they find the going easier and more productive!

You may need to “come” to Jesus today by giving up trying to be good enough for God and realize He will forgive your sins, and credit your life with Christ’s righteousness. Maybe as a Christ-follower, you are burdened with the baggage of living a life apart from God -- though you knew better. Submit your life to Christ once again, yoke yourself to Him and follow His way . . . and find rest for your soul!
